Progressive Shlicha Lior Argaman, who has served the Victorian community and Netzer since November 2011, has received the top accolade of “Most Outstanding Shaliach/Shlichah in Australia”.
The recognition is made each year by the Jewish Agency for Israel, which coordinates shlichut programs around the world, and is based on feedback from the community or movement the emissary represents.
A statement from the World Union for Progressive Judaism read: “Lior was not only an outstanding shlichah, but managed to do so through a pregnancy and giving birth to twins.”
Zionist Federation of Australia president Philip Chester said: “Lior has exceeded all expectations in her role as shlichah for the Netzer youth movement and the Progressive movement. Lior exemplifies the delicate balance of shlichut, maintaining a professional approach while encouraging young people to engage in an informal setting.”
Argaman will conclude her two-year contract at the end of 2014, and will return to Israel with her husband Didi and three children.
